    Forensic Engineers

Our team of forensic engineers have the required knowledge and expertise to conduct investigations in an objective and timely manner. Besides diagnosing the problem, we also handle dispute resolution reports and offer emergency works response services.

RC Engineering offers three stages of assessment. We will consult with, and advise our potential clients, to help them choose which stage best suits their post-construction problem.

    The assessments are:

    Stage 1. Structural/Building Defects Investigation & Reporting

Our forensic engineers prepare defect reports target building defects, building movement, ground movement, water ingress, and leaking. In our commitment to deliver high-quality comprehensive reporting, we use drone technology to extend our visual reach and investigate the structure in critical inaccessible areas. In this first stage, the client will receive building defect mapping and reporting, and remedial work recommendation(s).

Stage 2. Structural /Building Detail Investigation & Reporting

This investigation is a continuance of Stage 1. The client will receive a detailed, comprehensive report on each defect, thus reinforcing the Stage 1 technical report.

Our engineers and technicians use structural non-destructive evaluation (NDE), and non-destructive test (NDT) methods to conduct the further observation. An essential part of our forensic engineering in Australia includes using high-end technology tools to investigate the structures, thereby enabling detailed reports, analysing the current structure’s capability and reliability reporting. This methodology allows our engineers to offer precise structural observations without any physical impact on a structure.

    The Tools We Use:

    • Rebound Schmidt hammer to measure concrete strength.
    • X-ray, and Ultrasonic concrete radar to measure concrete crack depth, investigating honey combing, and detecting steel reinforcements.

Stage 3. Structural capability and reliability check based on current condition, and final permanent remedial work recommendation

This stage is the final step. Our forensic engineers use the recommendation(s) and technical reports from stages 1 and 2 to analyse the structures current defect. They then complete a comprehensive technical examination, including loading capacity check, and structural lifetime period analysis, based on current structural defects. Once completed, the client receives a comprehensive report of the structural capability and reliability, based on current defects/current structural condition, and final permanent remedial work recommendation(s), to rectify structural defects.
